Vagas Baby – Wooo Hooo….

September 8, 2009

From my last update to Vagas I dont think anything really interesting happened, and if it did I cant remember cos Vagas is SO amazing that everything else has been forgotten!!

On Thursday (the date escapes me!) I drove the insainly long distance fromFlagstaff AZ to Las Vagas Nevada.  Really, this was just because Pauls driving makes me nervous sometimes as he shouts when the satnav goes slow and he misses a turning – MEN!

Anyway, the route was long and really hot! and people were driving like total maniacs! We had started off in a lovely hotel in flagstaff but breakfast was not included so we went to a wee diner for eggs! woo hoo, before heading off.  We decided to go with the roof down for a while and it was really nice, it smelled all alpine like due to the mountains and trees!  It started to rain after about an hor so we had to pull over to put it up again – we would have been drier just driving through it! Nevermind!

The road to Las Vagas takes you over the Hoover Damn, and seeing as it was Labour Day weekend (could have planned that better!!), it was really busy, but amazing to see!  They are building a new bridge over the damn which looked too high for my liking so I aint going back there if you have to go over that!  Paul wanted to take some pictures soo we parked for a bit so he could do that but I wanted to get to Vagas so didnt stay long!

Driving into Vagas was cool, it was all hazy but the skyline from the hotels was really exciting!  It was really eazy to get to the strip and the hotel was 2 mins from the freeway exit and had a massive multistory carpark which was also free – Bonus!  So we got all parked up and made our way into the massive and bloody amazing Billagio!

Paul should get pictures up soon but this place was something else!  In the lobby the ceiling iis covered in huge glass flowers in different colours, quite amazing!  We checked in and started the trek to our room, we were on the 12th floor in room 12030, it took about 15 mins to get from the front desk to the room!  When we got there it was worth it, we had views of the fountains and part of the strip, the curtains were electronic and the bathroom was huge!!

We got our stuff together and went for a wee wander around, startiing with the hotel, it had loads of ballrooms (like 100 or something), a huge pool – which we never made it too!, designer shops and the largest chocolate fountain in the world in a sho[ which had huge big wedding cakes! Brilliant!  We had a wee look round for someplace for lunch and went to a place called Noodles which was the best chinese food we had since we got here (we have only had 2!).

We then ventured over to Bally’s to pick up tickets for a show which Paul booked (Jubilee) before checking out Paris, Planet Holywood and Miracle Mile which is a huge shopping mall! (HUGE!!!).

We got all ready and went off to our fist Vagas show – well, it was so bad that it was funny, we were right at the front so we got hit with feathers and were WAY too close to the ‘dancers’ who were either fullu clothed or not!  ugh!  Not really what we thought it would be – paul was expecting more of a story but it was an experiance!  Afterwards we just went back to the hotel as it had been a really long day!

Friday, we got up a bit later today – bout 10am – got ready and went to a place called Serendipitys for breakfast, although bu the time we got there it was about 11.15 and it had to be lunch – Burger and fries! – and they do a frozen hot chocolate so we got one to share as it was huge but lovely!!!  We then headed in to Caesars Palace  to get some Bette Midler tickets!!!!!!!  WOO HOO!!!!  We were not sure if there would be any left but we managed t get really good seats, then went to the Bette and Cher shop and bought a pencil! heh heh

The rest of the day we went round Caesars mall, the Vanetian’s mall and fashion show mall where we bought some Sketchers then headed over to Treasure Island Hotel for a nosey and a wee gamble.  Paul wanted to try Blackjack – the electronic one – so I got a dollar and went off to the 1cent machines, 2 hours later i left with $10! woo hoo me!  We had to leave to get ready to see Bette Midler, otherwise I would have stayed where I was!!

Bette Midler was amazing, she sang all the songs I knew and sone some sketches which I think were taken from her tv show from the 70/80s, was still good though but Paul looked bored everytime I looked round!  It was the best show I have ever seen, her outfits were all glitsy and the dansers were all snazzy too, the only thing I didnt like was that Bette Midler was swearing!!!  Lots too!!  Hmmmm….. nevermind, I am the only person I know (apart from paul) who has ever seen her live and I find that exciting!  I didnt get a programme by the way as they were $40!

Following the show we decided to have some fun at the Casino, I opted for the 1cent slots again with my $10 and lost it really quickly and paul went back on the electronic blackjack,  As the Roulette tables were so expensive being a min bet of $5 for the lowest table I never made it over to them, but I did get $10 from paul for the electronic one, lost my first $5 but then came away with $48 in the end – woo hoo me again!  Paul didnt win anything – Awwwww……..  Time for bed after this before I lost the winnings! heh heh

On Saturday we had to move hotels as the Billagio doubled the prices for a Sat night so we were headed for the Sahara Hotel.  We checked out of the Billagio and loaded up the car before going for a wander to the far end of the strip for a look at New York New York, Excaliber and the MGM hotels.  on the way back down we went into M&M world (heh heh) where i got $14 worth of M&M’s and a pen! heh heh, If I had known though that Paul was going to pay instead of me spending my winnings then I would have got some funky socks or PJ’s too! Grrrrr…..  W e wandered back down to Miracle Mile to the Tropical Hawaii bar (the waitresses are all in Bikinis which put’s u off ur dinner!), but it was good all the same.  After we went into a dress shop which I had seen on TV, the dresses are made in a way that they give you a flat tummy – they were on one of the diet shows, anyway, we went in and I almost had a heart attack as the one I picked up was $14590 with 70% off but was still ridiculous!!!

We went round and booked a trip for the Sunday, A helicopter and river raft trip, I was not over enthused with the whole thing as it was a 9 hour day trip but we would never get another chance.

We headed down to check in to the Sahara, It was nothing like the Billagio but the rooms were nice and we were not planning on being there very often over the next 2 days anyway! Once we got our bags in we headed over to the Stratosphere as I planned to go on one of the rollercoasters at the top.  We had to pay to go to the top and then pay for the coaster and they took our picture before we went up which they put us against different backgrounds so we bought it before we left.  Anyway, I opted for the Big Shot which shoots you 160ft up at 45mph and it was not scarry at all, so it was really disapointing, even the picture they take when the ride starts showed how bored I was!!  Ugh!  Paul says I am hardcore though for going on these rides.  We got a wee Starbucks (there is one at the top of the tower) and had a wander to take some pictures of the views before heading back to the hotel.  I had hopes for my $40 ($8 went on water!) at the casino so went on the Roulette table where my money vanished really quick but paul kept gving me more seeing as he had a seat at the bar playing a game there with free beer! haha

On Sunday we had to be outside the hotel at 5.40am for the tour company to take us for our flight, the guy went round a few hotels to pick up some other people before we got to the airport.  We were flying with a company called Maverick and the helicopters were rather cool!  We all got weighed as they seat you according to your weight, then ventured out to meet the pilot, I was a bit nervous as am not the best flyer in the world but it was worse when we got put in the front!!   The helicopter was really shakey so I kept holding on but the pilot didnt look worried so figured it was ok!  The views were amazing and we did have the best seats for taking pictures!  We landed at the grand canyon for some snacks and bubbly, chatted to the pilot and other daytrippers before we continued on.  the flight lasted for about 2 hours before it dropped 4 of us at Boulder airport for the rafting collection.  We were taken to another hotel where we were given little lunch bags with a roll, cookie, water, crispa and an apple and put on another bus which took us to the base of the Hoover Damn.  We boarded the raft, paul and I sat on the edge with one foot in the water, and it took us on a 3 hourish trip through the black canyon, we sttopped 3 times, the firse we were told we gould go in the water for a swim, we had no swimstuff with us so we just went in to our knees whch was enough cos it was freezing!!!!  Some folk dived in fully clothed – they were dry in about 20 mins though!!  The rafting trip was really good though and would defo do it again if we had a chance!!  We got back to our hotel atabout 3pm and I went for a sleep as we were planning on going to Hooters for a beer.  We sgot the Monorail up to the opposite end of the Strip and went into Hooters hotel and casino as we had been informed that they sild great ice cold beers but we could not find where exactly that was so we just went to the shop (I got a t-shirt) and made our way to the New york new york hotel for dinner, thay have a bar called Nine Irish Men which serves food so we got some Steak – which was huge! – and listened to a band who were so good that we bought the CD.  They sang proper irish tunes and the lead singer looked like our friend Paul Devlin and sounded like Andy Sheehan! really odd!!! Paul was excited as they served Magners so I had one and he had 4 then realied whEn the bill came they were $8 each! haha.. nevermind!

We wandered back down to Paris hotel to get the Monorail back to our hotel and decided that we would come bck to Vagas – probably not together as Paul would rather go clubbing, where I just want to shop and gamble!! haha

This morning we had to leave Vagas and make the trip to San Diago (Stay Classy!), which took 2 hours longer than expected due to the public holiday!  Nevermind, we are here now and it seems fab so far.  But that was the Vagas update and I need to sleep now as it is 00:22! Grrrr….

26th August – Shreveport to Dallas

August 31, 2009

Today, the 2th, I managed to get an appontment with Dr Ricky Fox, who I only called as I liked the dinosaur in his webpage, it made him seem fun and yet friendly!  When I got there I had to fill out forms and they took some x-rays,  the dentist came through to inform me that he could not seal the tooth and that it was going to have to come out! NIGHTMARE!!!!  I asked if he would knock me out but he offered me the laughing gas instead assuring me that I would be aware of what was going on but I would not care.  Now, I did in no way believe a word of that but I agreed anyway not seeing another alternative!  The nurse brought Paul through before they gave me the gas and then I started crying but he still refused to stay with me! ugh!

To be honest it was really funny, they gave me a swab with numbing gel for my gum and put this thing over my nose for the gas, I felt no difference at all and sat chatting away about what I realised after was total nonsense!  I asked if they still got Sunset Beach over here, which I know was ended years ago! and I also, while Dr Ricky was pulling my tooth out, kept snorting like I do when I laugh sometimes, which made me laugh (ugh).

As I am not a US resident the dentist had to call my prescription into Walmart for me to collect anfd gave me his cell number incase there were any problems.  He was amazing as all I remember is the funny stuff from the whole thing!

So we went shopping, me with my bleeding mouth and paul who was starving as he had eaten nothing! awwwww……

I got Twilight book 4 to keep me distracted and Paul stocked up on water, chocolate, chocolate milk and diet coke!  I was starving but knew II was getting nothing to eat any time soon!

Paul took the driving seat for the day which was a shame as it was a long journey for a solo driver, but I could concentrate on nothing!

Dallas was amazing to drive past on the way to the hotel, the skyscrapers were exactly like you seen on the TV show all glass and shiney, it was rather exciting.  We were staying just outside Dallas accross the road from the Six Flags Theme Park which thankfully was closed as I was in no state to go on a coaster and I would have been gutted if it was open!  We were in the Hyatt again which are all styled exactly the same which is great for getting settled in.

Paul was starving and I was tempted to eat somethng since my mouth had stopped bleeding so we went to a bar called Humperdinks which turned out to be a sports bar.  It was a nice place but it was taking me that long to cut my dinner up in to teeny bits then to actually eat them that everything went cold and I gave up!

We wandered back over to the hotel for another planning session for the next day and I attempted to sleep sitting up! (My rules from the dentist: No hot drinks, no drinking via a straw as this may dislodge the clot -YUCK! – and sleep sitting up tonight!).

Needless to say I woke up more tired!

25th August Sreveport

August 31, 2009

As our hotel was not providing breakfast, we decided to get up and go when we were readt and stop on route for some food.  This was cook as we have been keeping cereal bars in our bags incase we get a bit hungry.

We hit the road and headed out of new orleans, it was a 350 mile trip but it was the best stop to make on the way to Dallas.  As we had had no breakfast, we drove for about an hour before stopping at a McDonalds for some lunch, This is where my trauma kicked off, as I was eating my fries and missing my weight watchers soup my wisdom tooth broke, the whole side of it just came away which totally infuriated me ans I had my teeth all checked and x-rayed before we left so my dentist is gonna get her backside booted!

This totally freaked me out as I hate dentists with a passion – through fear mostly, but the last thing i wanted was dental treatment in a different country,  I ventured to a pharmacy, got some painkillers incase it started to hurt and decided to ignore it! (haha… )

We continued our trip up to Shreveport, we had a room booked at Sam’s Town hotel and casino which was quite interesting! Our room was amazing with a massive big bathroom and TV! brilliant!!!

We went for dinner at the all u can eat, I did not enjoy anything that was on offer except the cheesecake and the apple pie, so thats what I got – it was really the easiest thing to eat too as I was trying to only eat on the right side of my mouth!  After dinner we had a look round the casino but it was not all that interesting so we went back to the room to look for dentists in the area in the hope I could get the tooth sealed until I got home!

We planned the route to Dallas and set the alarm for early in the morning so I could call the dentists!  Oh Joy!………….

24th August New Orleans full day

August 31, 2009

Well, our one and only full day in new orleansstarted with us heading over to a place called Cafe Du Monde for some breakfast, they serve things called Beignets which are fried dough covered with icing sugar.  This was way too much for me this early in the morning so was not feeling the best after for a while!

After breakfast we started walking about again, paul had made a note of places to see but I got distracted by the horse drawn buggie tours so we ended up doing that.  It was rather interesting and only lasted for 30 mins but the man went on about himself too much.  He did however show us where Brad Pitt just bought a house and where he and the grumpy waif go for dinner when they are in town! (we went there for dinner that night!), and the house was doors from our hotel – This was interesting!!

After the trip we took to the feet again and walked in the opposite direction of our hotel, towards the business area, this led us to the port where the boats are which paul was interested in doing until I pointed out that they only go over to the other side of the Mississippi and back again – sorry Paul!  So we wandered along to see what the big Paddle boat was all about, this was a 2 hour boat trip down the Mississippi but was something like $25 each and i became less enthusiastic when Paul said he had never seen the movie ShowBoat! I felt there was no point after that!

After, we went for lunch at a Po-Boy shop, now these dont really sound all that appealing to me then I learned that they were sandwiches made from a crispy roll so that seemed ok!  I ordered a Turkey one with Lettuce and tomato with NO mayo and Paul ordered the same but with Mayo, Low and behold mine had mayo stuck to the lettuce and it had pickles on it!!  Those were not on the menu so I ended up not eating very much of it!  Eeeeewww….

After lunch we returned to the hotel to deal with some admin issues – our route to Vagas, and photo stuff  and I think I had a sleep as I cant remember doing anything between the admin and going out for dinner!

Anyway, we went to a place called Irene’s (where brad goes) and it was probably the best meal I have had since getting here, it was a tiny little place but the walls were covered with pictures of famous people who had been.  We were sitting beside one of Kate Hudson which I presume was taken when she was in New Orleans filming Skeleton Key as her husband was also in the pic and they are now divorced!

After dinner paul was desperate to go listen to some proper jazz so we went bck up to Bourbon Street and found this band playing who were rather good!  I got talking to this woman who was rather worried at arriving earlier that day, was there for the whole week ahead but did not think she would last due to the place being dirty and smelly!!  I was just so glad that I was not the only one who elt this way!  The dsrinks in the bar were unreal!  I ordered a jack and diet coke and I swear there was a drop of coke in the glass!  I seriously almost had a choaking fit!  Paul got them to add more coke but it was no good, he had to drink it.  After that we went bak to the hotel and sat with our feet in the pool for a while to relax.

Just as well I made time for that relaxing moment I suppose………

23rd August – New Orleans

August 31, 2009

On route to new orleans we decided to go the scenic road again but as the weather was so good we drove with the roof down for a change!  It was a really good drive, I was driving again which I rather enjoy over here (when I keep on the correct side!!)

Paul was keen to go this road as he wanted to drive through a town called Billoxi, I had never heard of it, but it was a really nice road to go along, there were all these lovely houses on stilts to protect them from rising water levels but also massive which maked you wonder how they stay up there!!

We made a wee stop at a mall just to stretch our legs a wee bit and get out of the sun and I managed to find this hot pink cover for my blackberry – Woo hoo and a hot pink wire to connect my i-pod to the car stereo, atleast all my things match now! heh heh

When we arrived in New Orleans it was faisrly easy to find the hotel – Although our new tom tom is a pain in the backside and sometimes takes us to the completely wrong place! – It was one of the few hotels which offered free parking and it was just within the French quarter of the city.  It was a lovely hotel and our room had french doors ot onto one of those balllcony’s you see on housed in new orlenes.  I rather liked it!

We went for a wee wander when we got organised and as firsst impression went for New Orleans it was not good!  We went through the farmers market (seen no farmers) just junk being sold, and wondered about the french quarter and onto Bourbon Street,  I found the area to be really dirty and smelly and was not looking forward to the next full day of sight seeing.

We did venture out for dinner lately though, I actually ordered something I had never tried before Gumbo, which was good once I took out the bits of spicy sausage! but I did give in with the main course and ordered chichen and chips – everything just seemed too odd for my taste!

After dinner we went back along Bourbon Street  and into the residental area on the way to the hotel.  The streets were not lit very well so it was a bit creepy but that may have been my mind going into overdrive again!

End of day!

22nd August – Mobile

August 31, 2009

Mobile, mobile mobile……

When we arrived here we headed straight for the hotel, which we always do anyway but anyway, we arrived there, got to our room and I could have cried, it was not the best room I have ever seen!  As soon as the door to the room opened there was this horrible smell and although it was clean (this was visable), there was just something about it which made me squirm!

We had tickets for a baseball game that evening so we looked (very quickly) on the internet for something to so to fill the time.  We found a Memorial park for the US Navy which had the USS Alabama on display to walk about, a hanger with some aircraft and also a submarine which you could walk through.  I have never seen paul so excited, ofrom the moment we parked the car he was like me at christmas! :-)

We wandered around for a good few hours, reading all the info on what the different areas of the ship was used for which turned out to be really interesting, then went to look at the aircraft – including some stealth plane thing which did look kind of cool!  They had a simulator called ‘Eject Eject’ which we thought would show you hot it would feel to be thrown from a plane -brilliant if correct, it was this flight simulatorthat I think we had on the computer when I was about 12 years old – Paul still seemed a tad scared though! haha

Following this we figured that we had just enough time to grab some dinner before heading for the Baseball game.

We got to the Stadium about an hour later and wondered at the few people hnging about outside, the game was supposed to start at 7.10 and we go there at 6.45, or so we thought as we had not realised that there was a time difference and we were really there at 5.45!  We didnt know this until we got back to the hotel after the game! ugh!

The game was good and would probably go to another one although it took a while to understand what was going on! good though!

We eventually went back to the hotel although I really could not get settled so was thankfull it was only for the one evening!

That was pretty much all for our visit to Mobile – Next stopNew Orleans

21st August – Panama City

August 31, 2009

Hello,

To pick up from where i left off:

Paul (being paul) thinks that we should ‘bag’ as many states along the way as we can, so seeing as Monticello was only about 10 miles away from the border of Gorgia we decided to pop up that way, drive over the border then return, and heading directly to the coast for the scenic road to Panama City.

It was as soon as we go on the scenic road that the rain started pouring down and I was driving!  Could not see infront of the car at all so ended up drivinag at about 10 mph along this wee road!!  The rain lasted for about 10 mins but was on and off for most of the day!

We think that if it had not been so wet that the surrounding would have been lovely as there seemed to be lots of lovely beaches along that route with lovely houses too!

Panama city was really nice when we got there, it was early evening and the rain had finally stopped so we went along to the outdoor shopping and entertainment area called Pier Point.  This seemed really new and had loads of shops and bars to wander round!  We wandered down towards the pier, but they were charging you walk to the end so we gave that a miss and just opted for dinner where we were served by a russian girl which was odd as we had only seen either british or americans along the way!  Paul had the best steak of the trip so far (apparently) so that kept him quiet for a while! – His jokes are killing me!!

After dinner we went along for ice cream at the Marble Slab Creamery where you chose the flavours you would like and then chose something to mix in with it – I got gummi bears! Yumm!…  Would have liked it better if the girl serving was not so sour faced – she got a bit peeved that i didnt understand the ordering process! Ugh!!!  This was the highlight of the visit to panama city for me though seeing as I love ice cream!

We went back to tho hotel – which was really nice and got all sorted and re-packed for heading off again in the morning!

Lauren’s side of the holi-moon so far Miami > Monticello

August 31, 2009

Well hello people,

Due to constant pressure from the other half and his failure to mention things I find interesting regarding the trip (ice cream places etc) i have decided to post…

Were to start….

As mexico was generally just sunbathing, reading and being unwell i will skip that section of the trip….  Paul wrote about it anyhoo, So…..

Miami: We arrived at our hotel (St Augustine) and it was really not what I was expecting, this place had apparently featured in american Elle magazine but I am not sure why!  It was tidy and the rooms were verging on fancy but I would not go back there!  I think the hour long wait at the airport to get our passports signed and the reluctance which the guard showed in stamping them did not help!  I think he thought we were planning on going into hiding and working!!!  Fool!

Seeing as I watch far too much TV, I was really not all that keen on walking about that evening incase we across some drive by shooting or something equallyas dramatic, but we had to eat and that required a jolly to the ‘food district’ or Ocean Drive to normal folk.  It was mega busy and there are these wee people who stand with the menu’s shoving them in your face when you pass in the hope you go in!  Ugh!!!  I was on the hunt for a Ben and Jerry’s as we had been before in Miami, but it was nowhere to be found and so was rather gutted!

On our first full day we had signed up for the bus and boat tour, it was brilliant!, the bus went round all the places you would never normally go to in the one day, Coral Gables was my fave with all the houses made from – well Coral!  the driver was a really good laugh and kept us all entertained for the morning.  The boat trip was also really good with the trip past all the famous people’s homes, although I am a bit sceptical as to the true identity of the home owners, but it kept us entertained and that was all that mattered really!

Day 2 of Miami and it rained all day long, we had planned to do the laundry and look for the car pick up office on this day, the laundry got done, which excited paul as he had never been to a laundrette before, so that was really funny, and although we were staying about a block from the laundrette, we were soaked by the time we got there! Grrrrr…..  Eventually the rain stopped so we went walking again, and made it to Miami Ink where we both did contemplate the tattoo thing, but to be honest, i would probably make Paul go first then totally chicken out – I hate needles!! haha….

We went along to a open air mall for a look but the shops have not been the best, not seen anything that I would pester Paul for, although that will change by the time we get to NYC I think!  The rain picked up again and we were stranded under some scaffolding thing for about an hour before we jumped in a taxi back to the hotel, still non the wiser on where the car pick up place was!!

On 0the following day (Sunday) we collected the car, we were so excited about this part, our own convertable for a couple of months – brilliant!  Then we got back to the hotel to find that a larsge section of the boot os out of boounds for the roof  so only my case and the laptop bag can fit in!!!  Complete rubbish!!!!

Paul has to keep his bag on the back seat which we are now getting used to! but we are still not overly impressed!

Once we got all organised it was time to drive over to Naples for the night.

Naples: This place is so pretty! From what we could make out there was not really all that much to do, I think this was due to it being a holiday when we were there but the houses were amazing.  There was a Pier which draws alot of people for fishing, as the water was so cleasr you can see all the fish below, even a massive Jew fish – we dont know if that is it correct name but there three old men got really excited when they seen it!!  really funny!!!

Once we had a look about, we headed back in the car and up to St Petersburg.

St Petes:  We have never been so bored while in Florida!  We were staying directly over from the beach but there was nothing to do, we found a place in down town St Petersburg which sounded (on the internet) to be a busy outdoor shopping area, when we arrived it was diserted!  It was actually like a scene from a movie where someone wakes up to find the public have vanished and only Zombies (in this case homeless people) are left!!! So we ended up at the cinema seeing District 9 – Really good!

Seeing as St Petes offered us nothing to do we decided to take a detour to Tampa, Paul being paul though managed to book us in for 2 nights in error (woo hoo for me) so 2 days of theme parks were planned!

Tampa: I managed to persuade paul that he would enjoy a trip to Busch Gardens while we were here – and seeing as we were not going to be going to Disney, I thought it was only fair I got to go someplace with rollercoasters!  When we arrived, Paul decided it would be more cost effective to get a ticket which got us into Sea World also seeing as we had 2 days to fill – OOOH how excited was I!!!

Busch gardens was brilliant, I had not been there for years and managed to go on loads of rides, one alone as Paul gets really ill if he goes upside down, but we both went on the water ones and a wooden coaster which actually made us feel like we were having an attack, our heads were vibrating for hours after that!!

I was desperate for Funnel cake while we were there  – it is doughnut mixture piped into a hot pan of oil into a circular/cake shape and served with strawberrys – yummmm…  But could not find it any place!  I had seen it when we arrived but could not find it later – Booooo…..  We ended up in this awfull place for lunch as the rain was starting and we thought best to take cover, my family will remember this place as I remember us going there too – it has a stage where these people who think they are the bees knees, form this dancing/singing group and try to entertain you, it was traumastic!!!

The rest of the day was amazingly fun but we only seen half the park so decided to return before heading north again!

The following day (Thursday) we went to Sea World, this was also great fun, they have a new ride called Manta where you go round the track head first, face down, scarry for the first big dip but really cool after!  We managed to feed stingrays while we were there with paul getting upset when I advised him to avoud the tails or risk joining Steve Irwin – not wise as he loved that odd man! ugh!

We went to see some sealion show called Seymore and clyde, more for my mum as she loved them – they were really funny althought they were not following their instruction from the trainers which made it funnier!

The big draw and the most amazing show was the Shamu show, the afternoon show was a tad cheezy with them doing this whole ‘believe in yourself’ thing which was a tad naff, but the actual Killer Whale part was brilliat, the depth which the trainers dive to with the whales is just amazizng!

The evening show – Shamu Rocks, was equally as good, the funky music and disco type lighting made it all exciting and has made me keen to go back, although it really does not last long enough for my liking!  We then made our way over to watch the fireworks, but we were sittieng too high in the stands that we could not see them properly! – This annoyed me as I love fireworks! booooo….

On friday we headed back over to Busch Gardens to go round the other half of the park, there was not really all that much more to see, we done a sky ride which took us over the top of the park and wandered round the safari part looking at the Hippos and rhino’s.  Once we had decided that there was no more to see we went to a lovely place within the park for lunch.  It has a man playing the Piano and served lovely salads and proper food! yippee!!!

On friday afternoon we headed north to Monticello just outside Tallahassee, this was the furthest noth in florida either of us had ever been so it was rather exciting!  The change in the landscape was cool, as you go along the landscape gets greener and you forget where you are, until you get out the car that is and you are hit with a wall of heat!

We stopped at a hotel along the road in Monticello, but this was just a night stop on the way to Panama city.
